What it does

Scanned prints carry creases, foxing, dust and colour shift from decades of storage. Restoration removes the physical damage and rebuilds missing paper detail while keeping the photograph itself untouched.

Getting the best result

Scan at 600dpi or higher if you can — the tool can only restore detail the scan actually captured.

Common questions

What does the Photo Restoration tool do?

Scanned prints carry creases, foxing, dust and colour shift from decades of storage. Restoration removes the physical damage and rebuilds missing paper detail while keeping the photograph itself untouched.

Any tips for getting a good result from Photo Restoration?

Scan at 600dpi or higher if you can — the tool can only restore detail the scan actually captured.

Will this change how I look?

No. Repair tools only reverse damage in the source photo — blur, grain, cracks and fading. They do not reshape your face, smooth your skin or change your features.

How bad can the source photo be?

Moderately bad is fine: soft focus, heavy JPEG noise, creases, faded colour. If the face is less than about 150 pixels wide, there is not enough signal left and the result will look invented rather than restored.

Is the result high resolution?

Yes. Enhancement and upscaling run at 4x, so a 1000px phone photo comes back at 4000px on the long edge — large enough for print and for LinkedIn or press use.
